DOTA Players Can Now Officially Call ‘GG’ Early in Pubs

Since players have been requesting it for some time, Dota players can now GG out of their game, albeit with restrictions.

After a lot of time, Dota remains the only MOBA game without concede or forfeit function. However, it seems that will shift after the latest matchmaking update from Valve. They finally adds a concede or forfeit feature to the game, although with some restrictions.

It seems players still take this a step towards progress, and hope that it will be implemented fully.

On the latest Matchmaking Update, Valve reveals that they feel Dota is best when playing with a group of friends. Therefore, they introduces a few experimental changes for “party games”:

  • Full party can now match against any valid opposing team, not only another full party like before.
  • Valve tunes the matchmaking so that parties can find games faster.
  • Full parties can all chat “gg” to surrender a match after 30 minutes of game time in Dota.

It seems this experimental changes will be implemented to see whether players use the function or not. Other MOBA games such as League of Legends and Heroes of Newerth have this function. And it seems Valve wants to see whether its worth implementing too.

However, not every response to this change was met positively.

Some players praises the function, but they don’t wish for it to be implemented for Solo Queue too. There are opinions that introducing it in Solo Queue will make the game quality worse.

It seems there are many comebacks that are only possible while defending strongly, and they feel that is the signature of Dota games.
