BON CHAN explains how Dominic and Owl landed their Sibol slots!

Kristoffer “BON CHAN” Ricaplaza, Blacklist International’s coach, shared how the current Sibol lineup was born.

Due to age restrictions, the team’s Kiel “Oheb” Soriano and Edward “Edward” Jay will not be playing with the team. With this, the team decided to open up its doors to new additions to fill up the open spots.

With this, BON CHAN narrated how he was able to land a decision of including Dominic and Owl.

According to the coach,  Johnville “Outplayed” Villar was one of the candidates for the gold lane. However, he revealed that concerns rose forcing him to let go of the player.

“When we tried him out it’s like ‘ok, he’s the one we’re looking for,’ because he has the attributes of a gold laner,” he said.

Coach BON, then, revealed that OMEGA was already ahead of them. This, saying that the MSC champs already offered Outplayed a chance to play for them.

Blacklist Sibol

“I asked him what would he prefer, Omega or Blacklist Sibol? He chose Omega [Esports],” BON CHAN told.

Following this, the coach revealed their second choice. Jake The Dog was the team’s second option and was regarded to be a good 1-on-1 player.

“He’s good in 1-on-1, very reliable, he has map awareness. The problem is the unnecessary talks, he speaks unnecessary things that make it seem like the team is just playing for fun,” the coach explained.

Despite this, the team decided to take a different path. Oheb, then, stood up for the team and recommended Owl who was in the process of thinking of quitting the scene.

“Acquiring him [Owl] was a blessing in disguise because his attitude fits,” the coach said.

Dominic has Swag – BON CHAN

Initially, the team thought of adding former TNC Pro Team player Lander “Der” San Gabriel as their EXP Lane player. Although, the coach raised that the player had one of the biggest issues that most EXP laners have.

“He’s [Der] good, the problem is in a 1-on-1 situation, it’s either even or at a disadvantage. However, you can count on him during a team fight. He knows who to zone and when he needs to protect someone,” explained the decorated coach.

Blacklist International to represent PH through Sibol

According to BON, they can’t really teach a player how to play 1-on-1. With this, BON raised that acquiring Der would force the player to even up with Rivaldi “R7” Fatah from RRQ Hoshi, Maxhill “Antimage” Leonardo from EVOS Legends, and Muhammad “Butss” Satrya Sanubari from ONIC Esports.

Searching for new candidates, BON CHAN was able to find Dominic who already had a stunning in-game stats.

“He [Dominic] has a high win rate, there are others who send their stats with high win rates but if you look further like damage dealt, damage taken, it’s very low. That usually means that their teammates were good but they are average.”

While the coach was skeptical at first, having Dominic try out for the team changed everything.

“When we tried him out, he’s quite daring during 1-on-1 fights, he retaliates but his map awareness is not that good. But that’s something we can work out,” revealed Blacklist’s coach.

“His attitude is ok. He’s quite silent but he has swag, he’s daring,” he continued.

Ahead of this, Blacklist International first secured their slot to represent the Philippines by dominating Sibol’s qualifiers. With their stellar performance, the team is able to secure the chance to represent the country in the upcoming SEA Games.
