Texas to Host 2022’s First Dota 2 Major

According to PGL Dota 2, the Major is arriving in Arlington, Texas!

The PGL, recently, announced that the Dota 2 Major will be hosted in Arlington, Texas. This tournament is scheduled to take place from August 4 to 14.

Based on reports, the tournament will be featuring 18 teams. Said teams will be fighting for the biggest share in the $500k prize pool.

Arlington Major will also be the last chance for teams to earn DPC points necessary for a TI invite. Given this, teams are expected to fight tooth-and-nail in the tournament.

When: August 4th – 14th, 2022.

Where: Esports Stadium Arlington, Arlington, Texas, USA.

Who’s Participating: 18 Teams

Prize Pool: $500K USD

“Dota 2 has a lot of fans in the US, and Arlington has a perfect location for tournaments of this caliber: Esports Stadium,” told PGL’s CEO.

In history, this will only be the second time that the Major will be held in North America since the Boston Major.

“We are fortunate to be back in North America with another Major after Boston. We love to run events in the USA, and we have wonderful memories from 2016: it was a great tournament, and the fans were fantastic. Having a tremendous tournament with DOTA 2 enthusiasts in the stands after a long time will be great!” told the CEO.

Supposedly, Los Angeles was to be the second Major holder in the region back in 2020. However, the problematic lockdowns internationally postponed Los Angeles 2020 Major which forced the tournament to be hosted online.
