ONIC ID’s Two-Roam Meta is PH Inspired

ONIC ID’s win-streak is thanks to the Philippines’ newest meta!

Currently, ONIC sits at the top spot of the ongoing MPL Indonesia. Recently, the team has been applying the two-roam meta, which they admitted to be inspired from PH.

Recently, many Indonesian teams have started to apply the two-roam strategy. This gameplay was first applied back in M3 by the Filipino teams.

In the fourth week of MPL ID, Bigetron utilized this dated strategy. Apparently, ONIC had the same thing in mind and used the same strategy in their match.

For their second match, ONIC ID used the same strategy with Franco and Diggie as roamers. Applying the idea perfectly, the team closed the series in a clean 2-0.

According to ONIC’s coach, their strategy played perfectly because of Thomas “SamoHt” Obadja’s performance.

“Maybe (we won) because of our roamer SamoHt. However, I also want to expand our gameplay. We learned back in M3 (World Championship) that the PH teams frequently used two roamers so we want to use that strategy too,” told the coach.

The coach also added that the two-roam technique allowed them to become more aggressive in-game.

“The two-roam meta is effective in applying pressure in the early game. It gives the opposing jungler a hard time due to how fast we can clear waves followed by frequent skirmishes,” he added.

This is not the first time that the Philippines’ playstyle was copied by other countries. Recently, Blacklist International’s UBE strategy was also copied by other countries.

Similarly, MobaZane revealed that he’s been trying hard to apply Wise’s jungling style. This, after seeing its success with Blacklist back in M3.
