NXP EVOS just lost… without even playing!

EVOS

Yesterday, March 13, NXP EVOS was scheduled to face ECHO Esports for MPL PH Season 9. Originally, NXP EVOS was to face the current top 1 for the 8 PM schedule.

However, the AkosiDogie-backed team failed to reach the venue on time. As per rule 7.3.4.2.8. of the MPL-PH Season 9 rule book, teams who come in late are considered to have lost the match.

“… teams must prepare for the match an hour prior to starting and entering the game online fifteen (15) minutes before the match. The rule also states that if one team has not entered into the match room which has been prepared after twenty minutes, the late team by default is considered to have lost the match.”

With this, the committee dropped a default win for ECHO Esports following the rules of MPH.

According to NXP EVOS, the team faced a series of unfortunate events during that day. Based on their official statement, the team left their location 4 hours ahead of the match schedule.

However, the team claims they were delayed by a flat tire which took around an hour before they received any help. Adding more problems, the team supposedly faced heavy traffic which forced them to arrive later than expected.

Since then, Nexplay EVOS has already apologized and has already promised to strive better for their upcoming games.
