Team SMG’s MidOne chance to redeem himself also got canceled.

Team SMG has been making a statement recently in the DPC SEA 2021-2022. Under the leadership of MidOne, the team is able to win five series out of seven.

With their stellar DPC performance, SMG could’ve qualified for a Major. However, Valve held their dreams down by canceling the supposed Major for this season.

While their DPC standing is one to be proud of, MidOne considered it to be just a small win. According to the player, his main goal was ti win the Aegis, but one of the steps in doing so got canceled which made him disappointed.

“I wouldn’t say I call it (Team SMG’s result in the DPC) a success but definitely, it’s a small win to me. I would only call it a success when I get the Aegis. You know, everybody’s aiming for the Aegis. This is a small win. Not going to LAN breaks me,” he said.

I don’t get to prove myself there. [I] think everybody wants to compete against every team, you know, around the world instead of only your own region. [I] was looking forward to the next Major, this Major, let’s say but it’s not happening so sad,” he added.

MidOne has had one of the saddest stories in the professional league. Before joining the SEA-based squad, MidOne was a carry player for the two-time TI champ OG before he got kicked out for Ana’s return.

After he got kicked out, MidOne’s eagerness to prove himself in the league grew stronger. In one of his statements, the player told that ana might be the better player, but he’s got his own style.

Now SMG player MidOne is a decorated veteran in the scene. The player holds three Major titles with Team Secret: DreamLeague Season 8, Chongqing Major, and MDL Disneyland Paris Major.

Valve has since apologized since it has canceled the first Major this year. Their apology followed after the developers took a massive backlash from the community, including players and teams.
