Liquid Defeats OG in a Thrilling BO3

Thanks to Zai’s almost perfect Black Hole in Game 3, Liquid beat OG in the best-of-3 series with a score of 2-1. Is Liquid a strong candidate for the Major?

Zai showed his skills as an Enigma player in the last game of Liquid’s best-of-3 series against OG. However, OG also showed their resilience as a new team that pushed the third game to 70 minutes. In fact, the first and second games were no less exciting than Liquid and OG, each of which showed their strengths.

The draft in the first game became a sign of respect to ATF, because Liquid didn’t let his heroes escape the ban phase. However, OG managed to find the right mix of drafts with Ember Spirit controlling the tempo and Templar Assassin as carry. ATF who played Dragon Knight as the initiator managed to control the early game together with bzm’s Ember Spirit.

Matumbaman with Troll Warlord carry can’t contribute too much in the late game because of controls from OG. As a result, Liquid lost in the first game in the 45th minute.

Liquid Decimates OG

The second game was Liquid’s turn to avenge OG’s dominance by picking Ember Spirit for m1cke. Their heroes have fairly fast pacing, and OG with Tidehunter hard support and carry Shadow Fiend struggles to keep up with their opponents.

OG’s draft weaknesses were exposed when they were picked off one by one during the early and mid games. OG gave up in the 32nd minute, and the series entered the third game.

The third game became a very exciting series with lots of back and forth from both teams. OG had a pretty strong draft in the midgame. But Liquid and Zai picked Enigma as a solution for their late game. This was proven when OG managed to take quite a lot of gold leads in the mid game. However, they couldn’t end the game with that lead.

Liquid used their experience playing in the late game. Zai locked 4 heroes with a double Black Hole thanks to his Refresher Orb. Only Bzm and Yuragi were left when their throne was attacked, and they finally GGWP’ed out of the game. Liquid won 2-1 over OG with a very exciting closing game.
