The DPC SEA Division 1 Smart Omega team was banned for alleged matchfixing, as a result BOOM got promoted to DPC SEA Division 1!

Bad news came from SEA Dota after one of their Division 1 teams, Smart Omega, was caught doing matchfixing. BTS revealed this in their Twitter announcement.

Furthermore, BOOM will replace them in Division 1, while there will be another Open Qualifier for the slot that BOOM originally filled in Division 2.

The players affected by the ban were the players who participated in BTS Pro Series Season 9. There was a lot of speculation that their poor showing in the tournament was the reason for the BTS investigation that resulted in the ban.

BOOM certainly appreciated the opportunity. They immediately said on one of their social media that this opportunity would not be wasted.

BOOM also thanked DPC SEA for giving them the opportunity to prove firsthand their new roster in Division 1 SEA with Omega’s banning from the division.

We can see the latest lineup of BOOM, which is full power, tomorrow (25/11) at the Mineski Masters tournament. With the victory of BTS Pro Series S9, many hoped that BOOM can become a rival to T1 and Fnatic in Division 1.

Do you think BOOM can use this opportunity to qualify directly for the first Major? Let us know what you think in the comments!
