Which games have the more toxic community? Dota 2 or Valorant?
Anti-Defamation League (ADL) and Newzoo reported in a study that both Dota 2 and Valorant are games that have the most toxic community.
Based on the study, 79% of Valorant players are reported for harassment in-game. Meanwhile, Dota 2 came in close with 78%.
On the other side of the study, Minecraft, a game famous for kids, earned the least cases only at 46%.
More so, Minecraft was the only game with a rating below 50%.
In 2020, both Dota 2 and Valorant were tied at 80% in terms of their toxic players. Both games lowered their rating just by 1-2%.
Meanwhile, Overwatch came in close behind Dota 2 and Valorant at 75%.
ADL’s study used over 2200 Americans in their study. The said data consisted of 542 children, aged 13 to 17, and 1,664 adults, aged 18 to 45.
Despite the stressful toxicity ratings, the study revealed that 87% of adult gamers showed positive in-game social experiences.
Interestingly, 94% of the said adults were gamers from Dota 2. Valorant on the other hand came in with 87%.
Following the study, ADL also offered alternatives to assist in mitigating the toxicity in every gaming community. The study hoped that games can become safer for all sorts of gamers worldwide.
