Nigma Merges with Galaxy Racer to Create ‘Better Opportunities’

Top-tier Dota 2 team Nigma announced a merger with Galaxy Racer!

Dota 2 team comprised of multiple The International champions Team Nigma has announced a merger with the Galaxy Racer, renaming the Dota 2 roster Nigma Galaxy.

The team however will not be changing anything with its Dota 2 team despite getting a new name. They will also be working independently regarding its budget, brand, direction, and identity.

According to reports, the only change will be its name, nothing more.

Good news! Fans who also bought Nigma merch last year will receive free ones as the new name drops its products.

Multiple news sources claim that the merger is a big step for Galaxy Racer. The merger makes the organization the only SEA-based org to carry a high-profile Dota 2 roster.

“[We] are excited to announce our merger with Team Nigma to transform our competitive esports division into Nigma Galaxy,” Galaxy Racer’s CEO Paul Roy told.

“Team Nigma’s leadership team carries vast experience as professional players. We believe [this] will be a great asset to building and supporting all the teams under the Nigma Galaxy banner. Celebrating and nurturing the untapped gaming community around the world is what Galaxy Racer was founded on… We believe we will be able to truly unlock this potential and shape the future of esports on a global scale,” he continued.

Despite multiple reports on the merger, no detail has yet to come out regarding the financial details of the deal.

Same Nigma Roster to Carry new Name Next Season?

Assumptions however say that the merger was definitely costly as Nigma’s roster has a very good portfolio.

Nigma’s Dota 2 team boasts a The International title which they won in TI 7. The team however did not renew their contracts with Team Liquid.

The team carried the same roster to Nigma and has now earned multiple sponsorships including Etihad Airways.

Despite having a promising change, Nigma failed to qualify for TI 10 raising the question of their strengths.

With this new change, many are now hoping for the team to make a huge comeback given their bigger resources.

As of this moment, it is expected that the same team will be carrying the new Nigma Galaxy. This, of course, remain unguaranteed as many teams proceed with massive roster changes every after TI.
