Just three days after Team Secret announced its acquisition of the entire Bren Esports’ Valorant roster, HYPRGAME managed to score an exclusive interview with DubsteP, one of the newest faces of the European-based esports bigwig.

In this interview, DubsteP shared his thoughts on their transfer to Team Secret, the team’s regrets in VCT Masters Berlin, and many more.

How does it feel to have a new home at Team Secret?

It feels great. I mean who wouldn’t feel great to be part of Team Secret. I’m happy that we found a new home. Where we can showcase our skills to all the people who are supporting us. To be able to bring Team Secret’s name is such an honor for me, and as an esports there is one of my dreams to be in a bigger orgs like this.

How did Team Secret welcome you as its new team? Was the welcome different when you first set foot in Bren?

Team Secret welcomed us with a bang. They had set up teasers and built a hype around before the announcement. It was a different approach of announcing based on my experience, and also we must consider Valorant and didn’t have a lot of hype when we got into Bren Esports. At that time the game was really new back then. So I think this was like really one of the perfect times to hype one’s team in the Valorant scene.

What made you decide to pick Team Secret as your next team? Was it a big factor that you were gotten as one full team?

Actually the name itself was already a selling point for us for we have dreamt of being in an organization of this caliber. Yes, it is also a big factor that they got us as a whole, because with this we can continue to do what we were doing from the past without any questions asked, we can keep doing what was working for us and we should keep going until we reach our dreams together as one team.

You recently faced an issue — the delayed release of your visas that prevented you from joining the Masters in Berlin. Have you moved on from this, considering that you would have been the first Filipino team to join the big tournament? Or is there still regret?

Some of us still regret, and some of us haven’t moved on yet. But it’s completely normal for this to happen for a lot of players who were dreaming of being in the big stages. It was a history being made by us which was crazy to think about, and we are doing our best to move on from what happened and we are preparing for what’s next and what’s about to come.

Are there any changes that the fans should expect now that you’re under the big Team Secret umbrella?

Of course there would be changes. But I wouldn’t know it from now and I’m looking forward to embrace these changes that will be coming from Team Secret.

How would you compare your 1 week stay in Team Secret to your first week in Bren Esports?

Since I’m answering this on a two-day old basis, I would say that they’re really supportive of our streams, especially me ‘cause I’m the one streaming on Twitch, and I can see that the Secret Twitch is always in my chat and that’s one thing that’s really crazy for me. I didn’t have that all my life on any other teams. I like how social media works with all of us being drawn and with our respective agents. For me that was one of the coolest things I had in esports.

Would you consider signing with TS even though not all of your teammates would proceed with the transfer?

I guess I will never know, and it’s hard to imagine playing the game with different teammates other than them. Less likely I would be signing in any org without my team. They are more than just teammates to me at this point. I can call them my true-blooded brothers.

Are there any opportunities that you think you can achieve easier with your new organization?

First thing would be the global recognition from Team Secret. So I believe that Philippine FPS will be recognized more in the future in terms of how Team Secret acquired us in a game like Valorant. And lastly, the only thing we need to achieve right now is to win every tournament we play at.

With DubsteP now in Team Secret together with Jessie Cristy “JessieVash” Cuyco, Jim “BORKUM” Timbreza, Riley “witz” Go, Kevin “Dispenser” Te and coach Gilbert “Gibo” Sales Jr., we are expecting many amazing things to come.
