Fans are furious!

Valve's Gabe Newell Defends CD Projekt Red After Cyberpunk 2077 Launch Issues

Dota 2 may have faced the biggest disaster in the tournament last night after the game crashed mid game during the game two of Secret versus Nigma.

Valve decided to remake the match.

The original version of the game two was heavily favoring Team Nigma where Miracle even got himself an ultra kill.

However, a direct turn of events happened on the remake as Team Secret looked more dominant despite having the same draft, and starting items.

Angered Fans

Fans say the organizers and Valve were not really prepared for all possible instances in a tournament.

The spectators say that Valve could’ve already learned from precedents.

Fans specified that Valve could’ve already prepared for such instance since the experience on EG versus Alliance during the OMEGA League last year. Arteezy got disconnected in the said incident due to a lag and was unable to reconnect to the game.

Such previous experience could have been an educational one for valve according to fans.

At the same time, fans also say that they do not blame Team Secret for the incident. Many fans argue that they were really disheartened by the event as it was an unfair scenario for Team Nigma given the fact that their lead was crucial for the decisive win to move forward to the Group Stages.

“It is plain to see that Nigma got the short end of the stick in this server failure. There really isn’t anything to say except they got unlucky, and I understand Valve had a say in the same draft, items, and WePlay only followed instructions. Yet, Secret is one of the best teams in the world, and wouldn’t lose twice with a draft advantage.” one Reddit user wrote.

A Reddit user also added that the unfortunate event was a big deal to Nigma as it would have costed them their The International chances.

The Remake was a Huge Deal for Nigma

“This wasn’t “just” a major. This game may have lost Nigma their chance to join TI and literally millions of dollars. This was a HUGE deal.” the user said.

Another Reddit user also told that Valve should take this as a glaring precedent. The user emphasized that the rollback system needs to be reviewed. He told that it would be an awful experience should it happen in The International.

“This, I think, more than anyone complaining about Nigma is the biggest takeaway from the game. The rollback system needs to be revisited and development time needs to be spent on it, because although this is “just” a major, imagine if this happened during TI Finals. It would be absolutely criminal.” the said user raised.

Meanwhile, despite having to face such an unfortunate feat, Nigma still managed to move forward to the group stages. Nigma was on the waiting list after getting a tied series with Secret.

Secret had to face iG in a crucial battle for a possible tiebreaker with Nigma. iG won convincingly with 2-0 and moved to face Nigma for the tiebreakers.

Nigma took the game on which officially ended the Wild Cards. The first game win made them qualify to the group stages.

Nigma definitely got the shorter end of the stick, and we’re not blaming Team Secret for it.

Imagine a scenario where Nigma lost and got drained out of the tournament. Who do you think should take the blame?
