Better than PUBG Mobile? Free Fire World Series Shatters World Record for Most Viewership in an Event

Results for the Free Fire World Series 2021 Finals | Dot Esports

Garena’s Free Fire just marked itself in the world of mobile games after peaking at 5.4 million viewers during the Free Fire World Series (FFWS) 2021 and is the highest in history according to Esports Charts.

FFWS boasted a $2 million prize pool for its event, and it serves as the biggest tournament for the game since its inception. The said tournament pooled in 12 teams from all around the world and were all featured in Marina Bay Sands, Singapore, the venue where the tournament was held.

Excluding Chinese platforms, the tournament gained four million viewers as early as the tournament’s Pre-Show, a feat which was already a record breaker in the world of esports.

Despite the absence of any Indian team due to travel restrictions, the Hindi stream collated over a 1.6 million viewers which shattered its previous 1.5 million viewers during the Free Fire Continental Series.

Meanwhile, the Indonesians peaked at 633k viewers, and Portugal which peaked at 487k viewers. At the same time, SEA viewers also shared in the history as 312k viewers were found in Thailand and another 248k in Vietnam.

The peak viewership of 5.4 million viewers was on the first round with 4.9 million coming from YouTube alone. On the other hand, Hindi stream peaked at a 1.9 million viewers which was seconded by Indonesia with 1 million viewers.

This feat totally compares to other mobile FPS games that also feature battle royale. Does this mean Free Fire is now the top game for mobile battle royale games?
