Call of Duty: Mobile is live after a troubled launch - CNET

More than 350 thousand accounts on Call of Duty: Warzone, Black Ops Cold War, Modern Warfare, and Call of Duty: Mobile, were banned due to their racist and toxic behavior according to developers.

The ban took place over the past 12 months, and were solely based on their reports and were extensively reviewed, including the in-game names which were checked in the database.

“We are committed to delivering a fun gameplay experience for all of our players. There’s no place for toxic behavior, hate speech or harassment of any kind in our games or our society,” the developers told.

Aside from giving bans, they also promised to integrate new in-game filters in order to catch violators who are overly toxic, both in their identity and character.

Activision’s action followed after multiple violators arose from their Call of Duty community overtime. In history, the developers have targeted accounts in order to minimize cheating in Warzone, and this time they reported that over 60,000 were already penalized.

Together with today’s mass ban, a total of about 300,000 were banned permanently.

Despite giving out huge number of bans, the developers told that there could still be a lot of them circulating the community.

“There’s much more to be done, including increasing player reporting capabilities and moderation, as well as addressing voice chat to help combat toxicity,” they told.

Toxic behavior has always been around in almost all of esports. This effort of COD developers is a big leap towards creating a healthy yet competitive gaming environment.
