The relatively fresh team under the name of SMG just announced that they were releasing the veteran Chai “Mushi” Yee Fung from their Roster after their team qualified in the upper division of Dota Pro Circuit’s (DPC) Southeast Asian regional league.

Mushi was one of the biggest stars that made SMG famous in January. Despite his profile, the team however did not qualify for Season 1 of the DPC.

Following their upsetting start, SMG decided to include After Yeik “MidOne” Nai Zheng and Damien “kpii” Chok to join the team in April, just a few days prior the second season of DPC regional league.

Adding MidOne to the team has become controversial as he and Mushi had a bad history way back their time as players for Fnatic.

In the new additions however, the team was able to qualify for DPC Season 2.

SMG had a 2-1 start in the lower division, but had decided to swap Mushi with Roger Roddgeee Tan for the rest of the season. An act that seemed to signal Mushi that he is no longer wanted in the team.

In Mushi’s stay as 6th man, the team had won multiple matches in the lower division eventually promoting the team up to the upper division.

“Today we bid goodbye to Mushi, as he embarks on a new journey. Thank you, Mushi, for the contributions you have made to Team SMG. We wish you the best of luck in your future endeavors,” told SMG through their Twitter announcement.

Despite having a issues, Mushi announced on his Facebook page that he is still open to joining other teams, and that he will not stop until he reaches his goal.

“Everything that has a beginning has an ending. Every end is also a new beginning. I’ll still be active in the scene, changing a to new ‘home’ or even a new role to achieve my goal. I have a dream, the same dream, and I’m not giving up yet. Thanks to Team SMG for the great experience,” the veteran told.

Mushi is already a legend in the scene. The player has three Top 4 finishes in The International (TI), including a third place finish in TI3 with Orange Esports and two fourth place finishes in TI4 with Team DK and TI6 with Fnatic– all these are definitely the qualities that a team needs.
