Dubai-based Filipino designer Michael Cinco, who has been renowned for dressing beauty queens and high-profile celebrities, was under fire from MGMode Communications, the group that handles Miss Universe Canada’s campaign, for allegedly sabotaging Nova Stevens during the Miss Universe pageant.

MGMode accused Cinco of sending their custom-made gowns late, and none of those fitted their representative.

In a now deleted Instagram post, MGMode said, “The truth need to be told! The gown was sent late by Michael’s team, and when it arrived none of them fitted!,” it said.

“We were able to [fix] the one for the finals but the one for prelims we didn’t have time. We went to Dubai 2 times, to prevent such mistake since it happen to us as well with Argentina’s gown last year @marianajvarela and Uruguay @fionatenutavanerio,” the team added.

MGMode said that it was a terrible thing to happen, and that it was inexplicable.

“Such a terrible mistake should not happen! We love Michael! But this was inexplicable. At the same time they had time to custom made a gown for another delegate who checked in with her custom made Michael Cinco gown. Things don’t add up! Sadly!,” the team said.

Michael Cinco, in his lengthy reply to MGMode’s post, explained in detail that the group is outright lying.

“The audacity of truth be told when it is bereft of it,” Cinco said.

“FIRSTLY, the gowns arrived on time. Or how could you have sent me photos and videos of her wearing them, showing how the gowns perfectly fitted her, days before each event. The video shows that the gown fits her perfectly. It is NOT ILL FITTING as you are spreading the rumours.

You are just forcing me to make NOVA waistline from 26” to be cinched to 23” which I obviously didn’t do it but you told me in pageant comfort is not important,” he explained.

The world-class designer continued by saying “SECONDLY, the insinuation that my team was trying to sabotage her win, is just absurd. Her life story was supposedly inspiring and I even went out of my way hiring a team of world-class photographer and filmmakers to shoot her in my couture gowns at a world-class location in Dubai just to give her extra publicity mileage and create for her a balance of glam and luxury as opposed to her humble homecoming in Africa and everything was PAID BY ME.”

“THIRDLY, if it doesn’t add up to you, then I’ll add Miss Romania, Miss Mexico, and Miss Czech Republic who all wore couture gowns from my new couture collection. Sadly, it is NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS. Let me just add that they are endlessly thankful. The new Miss UNIVERSE 2020 Miss Mexico @andreamezamx was so grateful and sent me a THANK YOU message even she didn’t wear my gown in the prelims right after her coronation,” he added.

Cinco also tagged several Miss Universe candidates, including Miss Universe 2017 Demi-Leigh Tebow who all wore his creations.

The designer ended his long comment by calling Nova Stevens, Davila Dennis, and Miss Canada Organization ungrateful.

As if his pointing out wasn’t enough, Michael Cinco in his next comment said MGMode should stop blaming him for Miss Canada’s failed Miss Universe bid because he has nothing to do with it.

The Dubai-based designer also exposed Miss Universe Canada for its unfair practice.

“Here is the truth to be told, you are using me for 3 consecutive years to dress up your candidates WITHOUT PAYING ANY CENTS and I don’t even get anything from that and you don’t even have an audacity to send me even a simple THANK YOU from your team and NOVA. The real TRUTH is YOU ARE A USER, VILE, and UNGRATEFUL person… SHAME ON YOU and all your team…” he said.

Michael Cinco ended his tirade with another comment, saying, “Next time, don’t use Filipino designers, use designers from your country and represent them in the world stage so you will be happy and not thinking that we are sabotaging your candidates,” he concluded.
