Despite Popularity, Comedian Challenge 2021 Cancels Casting Because Few Are Auditioning

Comedian Challenge is one of the most popular TV game shows and has the most viewers in Vietnam for many years. This is also the first and most successful entertainment game show of Dien Quan company.

Each season of Comedian Challenge attracts a large audience, with competitions reaching several tens of millions of views on Youtube, creating many stormy phenomena in the online community such as 5 little boys, Ngan Thao, and Bubble Tea Saint.

Last year, because of the complicated pandemic situation, Comedian Challenge was forced to suspend broadcasting.

By this year, Comedian Challenge 2021 season 7 officially returns in the expectation of both the public and the producer. Dien Quan is completely confident because they have invited comedian Hoai Linh to sit on the hot seat after many years of absence on television.

However, for some reason, this year’s Comedian Challenge suddenly lack contestants, even though Hoai Linh and Minh Nhi was invited to sit as judges.

Even in the casting round, Dien Quan also invited more faces such as comedian Bao Chung, Ngan Thao instead of only director Khuong Dua like in previous years, but it was not much better .

Director Khuong Dua lamented the casting in the first batch:

‘You see, the whole casting was just a few people scattered. There are many chairs but no one is sitting.

Before the 7th, there was no ban on gatherings, so we left many seats for the contestants. Now there is a ban on gatherings of more than 30 people, so we let very few contestants enter the studio, only 5 contestants per casting.

There are so few contestants this season, I don’t know what to do. I definitely have to hold another casting. Audiences who register for this round but can’t come, please wait for the next round to come to the casting.

By the end of today, the first casting session was over, but only 200 contestants attended. Of which, only 70 candidates can be selected.”

A few days later, director Khuong Dua had to continue to announce the cancellation of casting in Can Tho because of the epidemic and the number of registered contestants was too small. It can be seen that the absence of contestants is really a big challenge for Dien Quan when doing the Comedian Challenge 2021.
