Is this the proper remedy?

In a post dated May 12, DreamHack clarified that the rules in the currently ongoing Regional League indeed had changes, saying that they will be removing such change to “better follow what [they] are doing for online competitions in other games, which allowed coaches to participate in team communication during gameplay.”

The said change follows after esports teams’ uproar online condemning Alliance for exploiting such rule, and for Valve for mismanaging the issue.

In a vlog, Alliance revealed that their interim coach ppd was calling the shots for the team as he was heard saying “our base is in trouble” in their game versus Brame where they lost, 2-1.

Traditionally speaking, coaches in esports are no longer allowed to communicate with teams after drafting phase. This act shown by Alliance was what caused players, organizations, and fans to go on a massive uproar.

“As of today, this rule will be reverted back based upon guidance from Valve as this does not align with their stance on coaching,” DreamHack told through a Twitter announcement.

DreamHack also said that teams, including Alliance, “did absolutely nothing wrong and were simply following the rules,” making Alliance’s current DPC standing strong above other European competitions like Team Secret, OG, and the likes.

This change, although, remains unclear as Valve has yet to release a statement directly from their office.
