Prioritizing Gender Equality, Moonton to Hold MPL For Women

Game lovers, especially war games and MOBA are usually identified as games for men. The number of women who enjoy similar games can be said to be very small.

Therefore, most game tournaments in Indonesia are usually reserved for male gamers. This sparked protests because it was considered unfair and disadvantageous for women.

Responding to this issue, Moonton decided to provide opportunities for female gamers. According to Azwin, Moonton’s public relations officer, there is a possibility that there will be an MPL specifically for women in Indonesia, and it’s only a matter of realization.

This statement was conveyed at the UniPin press conference. UniPin itself is the organizer that will hold a tournament entitled Ladies “Series Mobile Legends: Bang Bang 2021.”

This tournament is touted as the biggest female Mobile Legends tournament in Indonesia. It is known that UniPin has opened slots for 64 teams to join this tournament.

UniPin further explained that the tournament will start from May 20 to June 27. The tournament will be divided into three rounds, namely the qualifying round, the regular round and the playoff round.

The qualification process will be carried out from May 20 to May 22 with a best of one system. This system means that the team that loses the qualifying match will immediately be eliminated.

Meanwhile, the regular season round will start on May 27 to June 13 with a best of three system. Teams will continue to the playoffs starting from June 25 to June 27.

The prizes that the esports teams are fighting for are up to 100 million rupiah. The 100 million rupiah is divided into four, where 30 million rupiah will be given to the team that won the Ladies Series Mobile Legends: Bang Bang 2021 tournament. The second winner will get 15 million rupiah and the third winner will get ten million rupiah.

Meanwhile, players who managed to get the MVP title during the grand final will also get five million rupiah. This prize is said to be the biggest prize for a women-only tournament in Indonesia.
