Tier One Entertainment is going huge!

Philippines’ biggest esports and gaming start-up Tier One announced that it was able to close a deal with Gobi Partners through its Gobi-Core Philippine Fund via a funding round led by the former.

Warner Music joined the fray as the world-renowned entertainment firm joined the round as part of its strategic investments in Southeast Asia. Other investors on the said round were Octava, a Singapore-based family office, Kayac Inc., a Japan-based internet company, and Atlas Ventures, Tier One Entertainment’s early-stage investor.

The said business-win for the company will be used in capitalizing with the current challenges of COVID19 to acquire more upcoming talents.

Tier One is a start-up founded by Philippine esports juggernaut Tryke Gutierrez, cosplayer and streamer Alodia Gosiengfiao, and businessman Brian Lim.

The company started off as a talent agency whose main job was to give platforms to Filipino gaming streamers. Starting from small, Tier One Entertainment is now a big success, being able to house 420 talents whose reach shoots up and beyond 100.9 million users on Facebook, 23.5 million users on YouTube, 11.8 million users on Instagram, and 9.1 million users on TikTok, cumulatively.

Tier One also works with big brands which include Razer, Foodpanda, Grab, Facebook Gaming, Ace Saatchi & Saatchi, Unilever, and others.

The huge sum of funding Tier One Entertainment will be getting from the said investors will be used in expanding its machinery, specifically hiring more team members who will be hired to support future talents, expand operations via Blacklist International, the company’s front-face esports team, and create a unit specifically for content creation in the country.

According to the company, it also plans to move into the international scene. A plan to expand its current bases in Malaysia, Myanmar, and the Philippines.

During its seeding round, huge conglomerates Bitkraft Ventures and Atlas Ventures will be backing up the company.
