Trusted Mode Annoys Players and Streamers

Counter Strike: Global Offensive (CSGO) is one of the most vulnerable online games played by cheaters. There are various methods players use to cheat the system, one of which is using a third-party application or software to activate the desired cheat. Departing from this problem, Valve as the publisher of CSGO developed and present a new feature called “Trusted Mode”.

In short, this Trusted Mode is a feature that prohibits CSGO players from using third-party applications to play the game. In the latest CSGO update, this feature will immediately run to detect other programs that are suspected of causing danger.

The aim is actually good. As mentioned above, thanks to this feature, the annoyance of cheaters can at least be minimized. But unfortunately it seems that this goal is not directly proportional to its implementation. In fact, with this feature, the players will be made difficult.

On paper, this trusted mode sounds great in preventing future cheats from being used, but based on players’ reports, Trusted Mode actually causes more problems than the solutions Valve offers, many third-party programs that can be considered safe but marked as dangerous applications by CSGO.

Programs that are not used to activate cheats are also blocked by the Trusted Mode feature. According to PCGamer, several well-known programs such as Open Broadcast Software, Discord, Spotify, even Nvidia Game Filter were marked as dangerous programs by CSGO.

In fact, the problem becomes even more complicated when you find out that Valve did not fix the problem at all. Instead of fixing the pre-existing problem, Valve is making it harder for CSGO streamers who use OBS (streaming software designed by “u / LuaStoned”) in Trusted Mode. With OBS, it allows players to “inject” other programs safely, considering that the OBS function itself is to find loopholes in the system, especially in the Trusted Mode feature.

In such a way, various types of protests have been raised, but what can we do? Valve is still Valve. It feels very difficult for Valve to want to hear aspirations or comments from players. Finally, it didn’t feel like it was a year since the problem with one of the CSGO features was left to become a problem.
