Should Filipino fans now rejoice? Not just yet…

OB x Neon puts up a fight vs Team Secret, ends ONE: Singapore Major campaign

Southeast Asia’s top team Neon Esports may just be facing a new match-up, and this team versus a rumored sanction to be placed by admins.

Neon Esports who placed in the top 6 of the recently concluded Singapore Major faced several issues after one of their core players Natsumi tested positive of COVID-19 which had put the team’s Singapore attendance at risk.

Natsumi’s health problems pushed the team to make changes in the roster.

However Rappy, Natsumi’s original sub, also faced the same concerns after the player made close contact with a patient which forced the team to proceed with changes anew.

The team had put Deth in the roster and became the final line-up change for the team. Their final line-up reached until the top 6 after Team Secret had put a stop on their ‘Cinderella Story’ run.

Despite these, unexpected changes had put questions as to whether or not the team will get penalized.

Talk about good news, Neon Esports will not be penalized for their multiple substitutes, this despite Aster being reported to receive one.

Developer and analyst Noxville revealed that a decision has been made on both teams’ post-Major fate.

“PGL admin confirmed a few minutes ago that they @NeonEsportsPH will get no penalty for stand-ins at the event (nor any subs which were out of control of the team),” he told on Twitter.

He also clarified that the decision was not from PGL.

“This wasn’t a PGL decision, they just were communicating it. Aster will be receiving a penalty however.”

According to reports, Neon’s situation was unexpected and was caused by natural circumstances unlike Aster’s whose changes were caused by Boboka’s “prostitution” allegations.

PGL and ONE Esports have yet to release statement on the details of teams’ earning and penalties, but reports say that these will all be released later this week.
