Bren Esports, the well-celebrated champions who brought home the throne and crown as winners at the 2020 M2 World Championship, seems to be stumbling in the first week of MPL PH Season 7. The excellent team suffered two consecutive times with ONIC with a score of 1-2 and with Nexplay, 0-2.

Defending a title is a very heavy burden. So many expectations were highlighted for the team. But the question is, is it true that Bren Esports actually lost because the opponents’ ability were better? Or is Bren Esports’ defeat a scenario that has been arranged and agreed upon?

The alleged match fixing against Bren Esports is a very hot issue at MPL PH Season 7. How can it not be viral, when Bren Esports should have evaluated and introspected. One of the players, namely CJ “Ribo” Ribo, posted a photo of a pile of money using the caption “EZ Money …” on his social media after losing to Nexplay.

Netizens assumed that the money in the photo is the result of the match fixing against Nexplay. The suspicion continues because not long after the photo was uploaded, Ribo immediately deleted the post. Trying to correct his mistake, he explained that the money came from a business together with his girlfriend, which would be used to pay for a new house. Not only that, Ribo also expressed his frustration at netizens who said that the defeat suffered by Bren Esports was an act of deliberately losing because of money.

Whether it’s true or not, the netizens are keeping a close eye, for sure, to Ribo in the succeeding days.
