Like a school teacher, a coach in a team has a very big role to play. They have a duty not only to train in terms of cognitive abilities, but must also be able to touch the abilities of team members from an affective perspective. There are many out there who consider coaches as a people who take a big role in shaping them to become a successful person.

Kublai “Kubz” Barlas, the Golden Guardians coach, has officially announced his retirement from world of mentoring. He has been in the League of Legends scene for a decade. Surprisingly, at the last moments of his coaching career, Kubz claimed that he had not been paid by the organization for three months.

The Golden Guardians underestimated the dedication Kubz had given to the team if this really happened. In his statement, Kubz also added that his move from Canada to Los Angeles was not funded by the Golden Guardians. Even though it was like an assignment from the office to its employees, surely all logistical needs must be paid for by the office. But ironically, this did not apply to Kubz.

Kubz claimed that the reason explained by the Golden Guardians was because the organization is short to cover the funds needed for Kubz’s financing and needs. Yet, looking at the consolidated financial statements of the team’s shareholders, the Golden Guardians, owned by the Golden State Warriors NBA franchise, has earned $474 million in revenue during the 2020 NBA season.

It was all the more ironic that the Golden Guardians’ general manager Danan Flander, sounded as if he was making excuses for the organization to not be blamed. He said that Kubz did not yet have the right to obtain financing because Kubz was only effective at work and was entitled to obtain his rights after officially entering the United States with an official work visa status.

Unfortunately, the last moment that Kubz will remember with the team is just a bad experience.
