Indonesian Esports league EVOS Legend won the match against RRQ Hoshi on Sunday with a score of 2-1. That was also the match that determined the top two or upper bracket in the Playoffs on 30 April-2 May, 2021.
This surprised the MPL ID Season 7’s fans and audiences. Previously, RRQ Hoshi had won seven consecutive matches, while EVOS Legends had up and down performance. Not to mention the criticism that EVOS received last week, as they were presumed to have limited hero pick after being defeated by ONIC Esports.
The interesting thing throughout the game was the selection of hero ban made by EVOS. During the three games, the heroes that were banned by EVOS were the reliable heroes of RRQ Alberttt, thus killing Alberttt’s performance. Meanwhile, RRQ let EVOS get their reliable heroes.
LJ, who just joined in the Week 8 match, revealed the reason EVOS won the match.
“We won because Rekt got his comfort hero. Then we finished off Alberttt’s hero, so RRQ couldn’t get their comfort hero,” said LJ. “We use our (reliable) heroes to win, heroes who are really proven to be strong and can make us win when we used them,” added LJ.
The settlement for the top two in Playoff’s also left that day, so LJ and his friends would not use any strange heroes’ combinations.
“There is no time for trial and error and showing unique heroes. Because indeed our preparations was not too optimal since the start of the season,” said LJ.
The EVOS Legends and RRQ Hoshi matches ended the regular round of MPL ID Season 7. The qualified six teams for the Playoff phase have been determined. Geek Fam and Aura Fire must let their chances to enter the Playoffs.
